Our FAVORITE Disney Resort Fort Wilderness!!!

I am so excited to write this blog because Ft Wilderness has become our home away from home so-to-speak when it comes to Disney vacationing. We love it there for so many reasons and I am about to tell you all of them!!! So, Ft Wilderness is HUGE!! ((750 Acres to be exact))! There are 409 cabins and 784 campsites that are available to stay in. The cabins are considered a moderate resort, but I feel like you are getting Deluxe when you stay here.  Not only because you are close to the parks (especially Magic Kingdom), but also because you are getting a fully equipped cabin with a full kitchen and it can sleep up to 6 people.  If you compare the prices of the cabins to the other resorts near Magic Kingdom (especially 1 bdrm), you will see that they are more affordable. Here is a video from my You Tube Channel for you to have a full view of the cabins.

The atmosphere at the cabins makes you feel like you have left Florida and are somewhere in the woods of North Carolina.  There are pine trees and cypress trees everywhere.  You also will see beautiful wildlife there from time to time such as deer and bunnies.

If you choose to stay at a campsite location you can bring a tent or an RV.  They offer a variety of different types of runs for your campsite and there are bathrooms and showers available also if you do not have an RV to stay in.  The runs are pretty affordable, which also makes it easier to stay on property.

As far as recreation goes, Ft Wilderness offers you many choices that can add fun to your overall vacation.  Here are a list of some of the activities that you can do while staying in Ft Wilderness: archery, fishing, bicycling, canoeing, tetherball, playgrounds, swimming, rent a boat, horse back riding, movies under the stars, campfire sing-a-long with Chip and Dale, music entertainment, campfire smores, games and activities by the main pool, and an arcade.  Another great option to go see is the Hoop Dee Doo Review that will be coming back on June 23rd, 2022 (this is a performance/dining experience).

The dining that is available in Ft Wildnerness includes: a snack bar at the main pool, Trail's End Restaurant (a buffet dining experience with delicious food), and a take out option beside Trail's End called P&J's Southern take out.

One thing that I definitely need to talk about when it comes to Ft Wilderness is the transportation. Because this is a very big area (750 acres remember), you cannot just simply walk everywhere that you want to go (I mean you could, but you might get pretty tired) lol. Ft Wilderness has an internal bus system that will take you everywhere within Ft Wilderness that you need to go to.  Bus stops are located all throughout.  These internal buses will also take you to the main bus stops for catching the buses that go to the parks and Disney Springs as well as to the main area (Pioneer Hall) where you will find dining, souvenir shop/groceries, and the dock where you can take a boat to the Magic Kingdom.  There are also boats that can take you over to Wilderness Lodge or The Contemporary.  We have taken the resort boat over to The Contemporary and walked over to M.K. before as well. If you do not want to use the internal buses and walk to bus stops, Ft Wilderness also offers you golf cart rentals (I recommend calling Disney ahead of time to reserve these as they will not always be available when you arrive). The last time that we chose to rent the golf carts they ran about $60/day (that was a few years ago).

This is a map of Ft Wilderness to give you an idea of where everything is located.

Well, I know that was certainly a lot of information, but I hope that you will try to venture over to Ft Wilderness at least once to experience how great it is for yourself.  And of course if you do, make sure you share some pics and details with me!!

                                                              Have a Magical Day!!
