All About the New Disney Genie

So, all of you who are used to going to the Disney Parks and using Fast Pass as an option for getting through those lines a little quicker should know that Fast Pass is no longer an option and the Genie Pass is the new way of skipping those long lines.

I decided that I would make understanding the new Genie Pass a little easier by breaking it down for you and I will also attach a You Tube video from Disney at the end, just in case you want a little more.

For starters, there are three different parts to the new Disney Genie so let me break it down:

1. Disney Genie: This is inside your My Disney Experience App that you should probably download and have handy for your vacation (make sure that you have the most up to date version of the app so that you will have Disney Genie on there...some of the older versions do not include it). Disney Genie basically asks you a series of questions to determine your likes and preferences for your Disney vacation and will plan out a recommended itinerary for you to look at based on your preferences. It will suggest rides as well as shows and even dining that match up with your answers. Note: This will not reserve dining, showtimes, or rides for you so you need to make sure to reserve dining through your My Disney Experience app and make your own park reservations prior to going. Show times cannot be reserved so it will vary and you will need to ask a cast member what the wait times are for shows or once again check your My Disney Experience app for those wait times as well at the time that you are in the park.

* I will be doing a separate blog on My Disney Experience to help in navigating that as well *

2. Disney Genie +: This is an optional paid service that allows you to skip the wait times and head straight to a lightning lane entrance to select attractions. Guests cannot purchase this feature until 7 a.m. on the day of their park reservation. If you are staying on property at a Disney Resort than you are able to make your 1st selection at that time as well. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort than you will have to wait until park opening to make your 1st selection, (you do not have to be in the park to start your selection). You can only select one ride at a time, so once you are finished riding your 1st ride, you may select your 2nd and continue to do this after each ride. The cost for Disney Genie + is $15 per person, per park, per day.
